The Solar system's biggest laval lamp
Just for you, Eve...
There are always flowers for those who want to see them

Went to see Wynton Marasalis play at the Esplanade and he was excellent. The band was tight and all the musicians were excellent. At the end he did a solo performance and his skill with the instrument was just amazing. Right before he performed a piece based on Matisse's painting The Dance, he gave a quote which was his personal philosophy above.

There was a minor incident when some woman bought in a baby and I think the patron in front of her complained, and she had to leave. The person sitting next to her apparently had an argument with the complainer, and even grabbed the guy's neck.

Also met an ex-colleague who's the editor of a travel magazine now so might be writing for him. Don't think they'll pay well, but hey, a trip's a trip. Got to scan in my photos though...

Bad Debt
Met an ex-colleague dinner along with some others at this not very good dim sum restaurant in Chinatown. The guy is 23, inherited a sum of money from his grandmother, and is in a shit load of debt; about $150,000. He's thinking of going into bankruptcy rather than pay his debts, but intends to try to give away his money and get it back after three years. He's foolish to think he can get away with it. He'll have to lie in court and well... that's another shitload of trouble.
Cracking bass line
Caught the music video for Apollo 440's Ain't Talking About Dub and got to say the bass line rocks. Yow!

Funny how music can still be redemptive and an anaesthetic. If I'm really in a bad funk I can play something and get outta it in a jiffy. Of course when the music stops the reality rushes all back. Someone should do some research into all this.
Credit card bill arrives
Well one thing's for sure. After using my credit card to purchase the notebook, I won't have to pay any charges for next year!

Starbucks in the afternoon
Tried to go to Starbucks to get some work done but didn't accomplish much. Most of the seats were taken and found a small table outside to work on. Kind of distracting. The bunch at the balcony seemed to know each other and looks like they go there pretty often. It overlooks the car park at Holland Village where cars often hit this road divider, and they play a game of "Man or woman?" when it does? Think I'll try Gloria Jean's next time but not much time this week to go out and chill much. More work in Malaysia coming up and wondering if I'm biting off more than I can chew.

Painful end..
... to the World Series. Well the Giants bullpen really blew it, and now the Angels came back to win it all. At least my mornings won't be wasted...

Anyway we're talking baseball.
