Just finished watching Apocalypse Now. Pretty amazing first two-thirds with a slightly dull last third. Still hard to imagine how Coppola went from this to Jack. Can't wait for the Redux version to hit theaters.
We are the roses in the garden, beauty with thorns among our leaves. To pick a rose you ask your hands to bleed. What is the reason for having roses when your blood is shed carelessly? It must be for something more than vanity. Believe me, the truth is we're not honest, not the people that we dream. We're not as close as we could be. Willing to grow but rains are shallow.
Barren and wind-scattered seed on stone and dry land, we will be. Waiting for the light arisen to flood inside the prison. And in that time kind words alone will teach us, no bitterness will reach us. Reason will be guided another way.
All in time, but the clock is another demon that devours our time in Eden, in our Paradise. Will our eyes see well beneath us, flowers all divine? Is there still time? If we wake and discover in life a precious love, will that waking become more heavenly?

JERUSALEM, Sept. 4 — What stuck in his mind, the police officer said later, was how the man smiled. He didn't say a word, this bearded fellow who seemed at first, from the way he dressed, to be an ultra-Orthodox Jew walking along a Jerusalem thoroughfare called the Street of the Prophets.
"He just smiled from the corner of his mouth," Sgt. Maj. Guy Mugrabi of the Israeli border police recalled.
And then the man blew himself up.
The explosion sent Sgt. Maj. Mugrabi and his partner, Officer Natan Sandaka, flying at least 10 feet, a huge explosion that rocked downtown Jerusalem today and echoed across the city as far away as two miles or more.

Happy to note that Alfian has won this year's Golden Point award. I've been blown away by his poetry ever since I've come across some of his works in the nus poetry newsgroups. But sadly you can hardly even find any of his books in stores. Not sure if it's sold out or bookstores refuse to carry it. His poetry rises above the rest out there because is it confrontational socially and politically; none of that mushy love stuff. Seriously, he'll go far; maybe even win the biggie prize, though prize winning isn't as important as making a difference.
There goes Mr Blue with his advice for the lovelorn. Extremely readable and sensible, he'll be missed.

While out with lunch on Sunday with my Bro/Sis-in-law and some of their friends Mae (Sis-in-law) told me about her mom and my mom embarrassing a Burmese waiter by commenting on his good looks. Things you never knew about Mom...
Shattering Daisy. There's a band name in that title somewhere.
Got the image from a link featured in Yahoo's weekly picks. Always a good place to keep up with what's new at the web. When it started out it featured mostly personal web pages, but lately it's been mostly larger government or corporate sites. Essential reading/surfing.
Well off ringtone hunting. Some didn't work too well, like Gorillaz's Clint Eastwood and Smash Mouth's I'm a Believer. Well more experimenting tomorrow...

Bro got me a Nokie 3310 to replace the old bananaphone I've been using. (On loan from him) Trying to get used to the interface as there've been quite a few changes. There were some things about the old bananahandphone that this one doesn't have, particulary the SMS search by name function. It does have short cuts for text messaging, which safes on lots of key presses.
Chosen my ringtone: The Simpsons of course, but looking for a longer one than the ones I find on the net...
