Attaining success in Singapore
I've noticed how one gauges success, particularly in the local papers. It's driving a BMW. Mentioned in this article about multi-level marketing and an article yesterday about the guy who set up NYDC. So that's how you show you made it big here.

While we're talking about cars, I agree with this article. Cars are a big drain on expenses, especially new cars. Not that I can afford one at the moment... sigh.
All Work and No Play... ah FUGIT.
I'm so sick of working on this THING. You want to excise it and toss it out like a cancer. I'm staring at it and it still needs fine-tuning but I'm just sick sick SICK of it. Going to get it printed at my brother's place and send it out. Not perfect but I did it and I paid an entrance fee for it as well -- that's how it is for US script contests, which I guess is fair.

Whatever the outcome, I got it done. Won and lost enough contests to let it not bother me TOO MUCH.

The taxi driver looked like Elvis

That's all I have to say.
Insomnia
Caught Insomnia and found it was pretty good, but was irritated with Pacino's usual act.

Also found my apt mate's method of controlling canine birth control: Lock up one dog in her room and the other in the bathroom. Sigh. Ah well it's her dogs.

Yet another scandal
Stunning. Wanna bet the culprits will get off scott-free?

Not a soccer goon
Not exactly a thrilling match. I think Brazil will beat Germany. The former's creativity and style have been a step above most teams though Turkey had some really nice executed set pieces. Ok Sunday at my place. Don't bring anymore beer!

Newest music drug: The Donnas.

BB gun!
You're right Eve, Brendan Benson is cool. :)
Oh this is news
It's amazing what qualifies as news in this country.

West Side Story
Well finally watched it, and it's quite amazing. I admit my mind drifted away at some parts, but the choreography and music were stunning, as well as the dialogue. They don't write them like they used to.

Also caught the Brad Pitt episode of Friends. That show has been losing steam. Next week I think it will be Sting's turn to cameo. Sign of desperation when you rely on guest stars to prop up your show.

Lazy Evening
Well didn't go down to the closing of the Arts Fest like I intended. Taking a break from everything and just catching up on movies. Found another money-sustaining opportunity. Won't make me a fortune but something I can turn to if I need it. Right now there's writing project #1523 to finish up. The people at Seed Magazine said the article was ok. I didn't know whether to cut out the science or the fluff.

Had a good time at the neighbourhood pet shop after shopping at the Holland V flea market with Eve and Alf. Adorable kitten and pups, and a nice huggable Golden Retriever that was just lying around next to a rather mean looking but harmless boxer. Came back and caught some DVDs. Fong Sai Yuk 2 which had the usual superb fight scenes and a barely comprehensible plot. Think I should go watch West Side Story and clear off another disc off my unwatched list.
