Photo exhibition
The World Press Photo exhibit was really brilliant. Some of the shots were amazing, though I thought one on post WTC disaster wasn't really good. Some still stick in the mind; a trio of dust covered bodies emerging from a yellow smoke, in particular.

The notebook cometh
Named it Golem. Nice thing with a large screen. Might try to get a thumbdrive. Apparently it's even cheaper in the US where it's US$999, without stupid delivery charges. Will spend weekend configuring the machine...

20 Questions with Dave Grohl
A good read.
So you weren't particularly worried about having to face [Courtney Love] in court if the dispute had gone to trial?
No. Mostly I was worried about having to get my hair cut and wear a suit. That's why people join rock bands -- so they don't have to get haircuts and wear suits.

Go Giants Go!
Well the World Series is intefering with me doing any kind of work in the morning. I'm just glad it'll be over by next week!
Life after a dotcom
Met up with some ex-colleagues from Asiacontent and had a nice chat. Found out a former colleague has gone to Philippines to become a priest. That's a change of lifestyle. Wonder what was the impetus for him to change, and admire him for it.

Falling Down
Was on the way to meet partners at Bugis when this Indian man suddenly collapsed while crossing the road. I helped him up. He was bleeding quite badly from his forehead and teeth. Let him use my handphone to call his daughter, which of course, bloodied it. The Bugis staff came over to help him after he called. Was washing away the blood from the phone and wondering what the significance was. I guess he was feeling woozy. I looked at his bags and glasses. Maybe he shouldn't be working; not under the hot sun. Hope he's at home resting now.

Kurt Cobain introduced me to karaoke
What a great starting line. This is from the Newsweek article on Kurt Cobain and his journal entries, and the entries themselves are pure stream of consciousness. After so long, do we really want to know what went on in his mind?

I like punk rock. I like girls with weird eyes. I like drugs. (But my Body And mind won’t allow me to take them). I like passion. I like playing my cards wrong. I like vinyl. I like to feel guilty for being a white, American male. I love to sleep. I like to taunt small, barking dogs in parked cars. I like to make people feel happy and superior in their reaction towards my appearance. I like to have strong opinions with nothing to back them up with besides my primal sincerity. I like sincerity. I lack sincerity ... I like to complain and do nothing to make things better. I like to blame my parents generation for coming so close to social change then giving up after a few successful efforts by the media & Government to deface the movement by using Mansons and other Hippie representatives as propaganda examples on how they were nothing but unpatriotic, communist, satanic, inhuman diseases. and in turn the baby boomers become the ultimate, conforming, Yuppie hypocrites a generation has ever produced.

In This World
That's the title of Moby's new video which features cute little aliens trying to get attention.
Bali bound?
Might have managed to get an assignment to go Bali for a story. Woohoo! Trying to plan it now. Think 3 days should be sufficient to get something. Not much time to chill and relax though.
Juvenile
Went to catch a movie at the Japanese Association, a cute movie called Juvenile. More a kid's movie, but not a waste of time.
Also watched Tears of the Black Tiger, borrowed from the Library@esplanade. Now that was fun but some scenes were obviously censored. The design is incredible and the story unapologetically melodramatic. But a wonderful piece.
