Is it... safe?

Watched the DVD Marathon Man on my new 20" TV. A very intelligent thriller that starts off a bit slowly, it picks up steam in the second half as the mystery unfolds. There are some scenes that are too convenient, such as when an agent of Zell explains to Dustin Hoffman who he is, but it doesn't mar the effectiveness of the movie too much. Those of you who have a fear of the dentist should watch the dental torture scenes. Pretty much guranteed to make one cringe.
Apparently someone is using my account to send out SPAM. I'm kind of sick of using this Singnet account. Probably will close it down and get a SCV email account instead. Will let you guys know soon.

Man this is pretty cool. Imagine the time they took to do it...
Well they retrenched about 90% of the staff from the TV channel and yet more people from my team. It's a great relief to many it's happened, unsurprisingly. Just been too long a wait. We had a good party at a friend's place where they bitched and reminisced about the one year working at the station. I'm going to miss them. I survived the cut but doubt if I'll be staying much longer beyond January. What a strange, sad and wonderful year.

Saw Legally Blonde yesterday which wasn't too bad. Some of the scenes are too pat and tidy, the humour occasionally forced and the plot predictable. Overall though, I found it pretty enjoyable. Some good lines. ("I bet he's still scratching his head." "Yes, it'll give his balls a break.") Ooooh.

Well the layoffs have started. All those on probation were released yesterday, with more to come. I was talking to two of those retrenched on Tuesday, saying how they would not be retrenched, and they promptly got it the next day. Sheesh. Makes me feel like crap.

Anyway, there's more to come, but a lot of people can't wait to leave. They just want the retrenchment package to get them by for a while and then move on. I'm not surprised, and partially envious. Those who are left AND have work to do now have double the fucking workload. Not good.

These days you're wondering if you're waking up to the end of the world....

Fly through your web browser, here.
It's an odd feeling stepping into a quiet office, and finding strewn around you are resumes and job advertisments. You'd think the office were closing down like tomorrow...

From Astronomy Picture of the Day. An aurora over Winnipeg. Looks like something out of Harry Potter.
Diamondbacks win the World Series! What a great game and a series. Well I'm bloody glad it's not the Yankees again. Woo-hoo!
Went down to Sims Ave for some 'sale' and found the TV I wanted but they had no stock. Annoying to go back a week later to get it. Came back and watched A Few Dollars More, the sequel to Fistful which was also quite enjoyable and had a more fluid story with fewer narrative lapses. The musical score was very good and added quite a bit to the film. Enjoyable yarn. Doubt if westerns will fly here anymore, but think they're actually more enjoyable than people think.
