Cabin fever. Need to get out of this place which means.. the office and the gym. Gym is the most quiet place one can exercise on a Sunday; maybe I should think about cycling at East Coast. Miss that place quite a bit.
Played pool with Kevin and beat me flat. Need to practise more really. Poolitix has been open a year and their tables definitely need refurbishing. The table we were at refused to cough up the balls which kind of got irritating.

Call mom as usual on Saturday morning but she's not home. Our conversations are normally fast; now that I have a cable modem my phone bills don't run to more than $1-2 a month. Cable, of course, is a killer at 60+ a month. But it's worth it since I surf so much.
Passed by Tiong Bahru yesterday and the smell of burnt tyres still hung in the air. Van was gone though. Will be carrying my point and shoot camera around from now on.

Friday finally. Movie/swim.. life is too mundane. Need to do something to shake things up.
Saw a van on fire on the way back, flames churning hungrily and penetrating the air conditioned sanctuary of the bus I was on. WIsh I had my camera with me.

Yes, P, all is desire, and that's the sadness of it all. :)
Ho hum. The weekend couldn't arrive fast enough. Work is just the space between weekends.
Going through a Beth Orton phase again. Picked up this mp3 I Love How You Love Me; a truly mushy 60s type tune that she imbibes with her vulnerability. Her deliberately imperfect singing is addictive.
To Verdana or not to Verdana... Verdana it is.
Another manic day at work. Freaking red tape. HATE IT. Problem right now seems to be figuring what the Singaporean audience wants. Do we go mass or niche? Probably the former.. Also tried my hand at writing comedy scripts. Considering that it takes six months for Monty Python to produce six episodes worth, it's crazy to churn them out week by week and sacrifice production values for speed.. but that's the way it is...

Paying the rent today at least the apartment mates have paid me on time. Rent is always such a big issue; a previous apartment mate would stall for weeks which made things difficult, and tense. A lot of people say it's better to buy than rent but in Singapore it hasn't been the case in recent years. I know people whose flats have lost 20% of their prices in recent years, which doesn't surprise me. $200k for such a small piece of sky always amazes me, but I guess it's less painful if one pays via CPF.
Happy 4th of July. Best memory I had was watching the fireworks in New York with tons of people on the East side of Manhattan. It was a cold summer night, and we waited three hours for a half hour display but it was grand. I miss those fireworks.

Tuesday morning. Slept early yesterday and thought I was falling sick but think I feel better now. Andrea Bocelli's Con Te Partitio is sticking in my mind after it was featured in last week's episode of The Sopranos. Hope today will be easier to survive..

Uneventful day. They're showing Buz Luhrmann's Romeo and Juliet on TV and comparing it with the play on Friday, I can see how it's pushed forward by its setting rather than the ole Bard's words. If William Shakespeare were a member of The Writer's Guild he'd probably be outraged. Still you can't deny the strength of Buz's vision; can't wait to see Moulin Rouge which I know will be visually spectacular, and will swoon all the girls with its romanticism.
