Watched We Were Soldiers which was better than I thought. The battle was a chess game between the two commanders. Of course, it had your standard futility of war theme. It was also very bloody, which is how war movies are these days.

Saw a most adorable Jack Russell this morning. One side of its face was black, and the eye on the white half of its face had a black patch over it. Looked like a superhero. :)
NOT your usual MTV vid. Bjork doing Cocoon.
Once you pay a few bills, new ones pop in. My SMS usage has increased again and accounts for most of my bill. Probably should try to send via the Net more...

II
I wake up in your bed. I know I have been dreaming.
Much earlier, the alarm broke us from each other,
you've been at your desk for hours. I know what I dreamed:
our friend the poet comes into my room
where I've been writing for days,
drafts, carbons, poems are scattered everywhere,
and I want to show her one poem
which is the poem of my life. But I hesitate,
and wake. You've kissed my hair
to wake me. I dreamed you were a poem,
I say, a poem I wanted to show someone . . .
and I laugh and fall dreaming again
of the desire to show you to everyone I love,
to move openly together
in the pull of gravity, which is not simple
which carries the feathered grass a long way down the upbreathing air.

Well TGIF. Was sitting in my colleague's car and he was blasting Beastie Boys. Also dumped some chillin' tunes from my home computer on a CD-ROM so I could listen to more stuff at the office. Cool way to start the weekend.
Managed to get rent and PUB finally. Cool. Middle of the month already. I really can't wait for next weekend when the results are announced. One way or another, I guess it's a trigger day. Either way, things will change, and I hope I'm brave enough to make the most of it. I talked to a person from the Film Festival who told me that the first two years of freelancing are hard (Not that it's confirmed that I'll be doing that, but have thought about it). Boy do I know that... the thought of wondering where the next payment for rent is coming from is scary. I do have enough to hold off for a bit, but I'd need to be frugal that's for sure.
Well I quite liked Days of Being Wild. More interesting characters and more character development than In The Mood For Love, which I found to be terribly overrated. Maggie Cheung is totally gorgeous. Ok so she's probably had plastic surgery, but still highly desirable.
Well just when I say that it starts to pour and I get drenched. Home now... got the rent and everything. Think I'll try to sit through Days of Being Wild. Good to get home early some nights.

It hasn't rained for a while. Every day that passes without rain seems to add a little more tension to the air.
Good buddy Rosie is on her way back from UK where she's doing her MBA. And it's her birthday today, though of course, she's still *cough* 18 and no one should dare to dispute that! Promised to treat her to her favourite Thai Sharks Fin when she gets back. (Yes, I know... disapproving glances all around me.) She's one of the girls that can make me laugh or pour out anything on my mind. Good to have pals like that.

The Onion hits a home run with this.Gulf War II: The Vengeance.
Ordered just 1 show for the Film Festival so far. Charging $1 for every MOVIE is ridiculous. Just the Bill Plympton for now. Possibly more later.

Six months since 9/11. Has it been so long? The world has changed, but less than we imagined and more than we thought.
By the way, Leslie, how often do you come back? My usual magazine mule might be coming back for good from the US... so wonder who else I can ship stuff to. (Including my DVDs... hehe.) Just went loony again today and ordered about 6. My credit card is hurting.
Found out I CAN use the gym at the main office. Cool. Will try to drag some of my colleagues down. Too bad they don't have towels but it's better than nothing. Hope they have shower facilities.

Still waiting for my apt mates to pay me the rent, and the utilities. Getting to be quite a pain. One of them left the stove burning yesterday. Fortunately I stepped in and told him. He once left water boiling in the morning and forgot about it. One day he's going to mess up seriously and cause major damage.
I remember seeing this map when I was in Phnom Penh. Wonder if I still have a photo of it. One of the most disturbing sights at Phnom Penh, of which there are many.
Mondo does Enron. Cute.
